Sample Objectives

Objectives can be of two types Task Objectives and Research Objectives. The task objectives set the stage for the research. These are the preparatory objectives which help the researcher begin the research. The research objectives are the goals to be achieved through the research.

Two sample topics are taken here and the objectives are listed for these topics.
 

Topic: Preparation of Comprehension tasks for teaching Short Stories at Graduate Level.

The main objectives of this study are as follows:

Task objectives

1. To make a list of short stories.
2. To prepare a set of tasks for such stories.
3. To apply these tasks to teach.

Research objectives

1. To find out the relative importance of tasks.
2. To try out one sample task with a view to identifying the problems faced by the teachers and students.
3. To revise the tasks based on the feedback obtained from researcher’s observation, teachers working at that level and the students.

Topic 2: Preparation and Validation of Technology Aided Language Learning Materials to teach Functional English at Secondary Level.

The main objectives of the study are as follows: 

Task objectives

1. To make a list of functions used in English.        
2. To select some of these functions to prepare teaching and testing materials.
3. To prepare Technology Aids to teach these language functions.
4. To take the opinions of some experts in ELT on this materials.
5. To offer suggestions based on the analysis.
6. To collect and analysis the feedback from the students about the clarity and usefulness of the materials.

 Research Objectives 

1. To find out the effectiveness of teaching through Technology Aids. 
2. To find out the relative importance of type of Technology Aids.
3. To arrive at a set of guidelines to prepare Technology Aids for teaching English functions at secondary level.
